Little Giants 亚洲通lcomed Home

From the hills of Maine to the western plain, Little Giants far and wide will return to campus this weekend for Wabash Homecoming.  

In keeping with tradition, Homecoming weekend kicked off Thursday with Chapel Sing, one of the College’s oldest and most beloved rites of passage. The Class of 2029 demonstrated their mastery of the lyrics to “Old Wabash,” the nation’s longest fight song to earn their “W”—a badge of honor spray-painted on their white T-shirts by the Sphinx Club.   

LCC Dedication Chacon ’85 receives honorary doctorateOn Friday evening, Wabash celebrated the opening of the Latino Community Center, the home of the College’s La Alianza student group and a space to sustain important connections with the community. The celebration included a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony, and the awarding of an honorary degree to Hipolito Rafel Chacon ’85. 

The annual Alumni Chapel, which serves as the general meeting of the National Association of Wabash Men, took place Saturday morning. Several alumni were honored for their contributions to the college and their communities. 

Alumni awards presented included: 

  • Jay Allen ’79 Frank W. Misch Award for Distinguished Service to Wabash
  • Col. Chuck Killion ’87 Clarence Jackson Career Achievement Award
  • Eugene Anderson ’83 Fredrick J. Urbaska Civic Service Award
  • Jake German ’11 Jeremy Wright Distinguished Young Alumnus Award
  • Eugene “Buck” WaddellButler-Turner Student-Alumni Engagement Award
  • Michael Myers ’11 Alumni Admissions Fellow
  • Alejandro Reyna ’17 Alumni Career Services Fellow
  • John L. “Jack” Wyatt ’58, Dr. Thomas A. Bridge ’74, Dr. Stephen Cougill ’64 Honorary Bachelor’s Degrees
  • Cheryl Everett, Phil Kenney, and Clyde Morgan Honorary Alumni

Touchdown at Homecoming vs. DenisonAlumni, friends, and families gathered at Knowling Fieldhouse for Homecoming Luncheon to fuel up before Wabash football against Denison. The Little Giant football team had their first shutout win since 2016 beating the Big Red 36-0. 

Rounding out an action-packed day, the Wabash Glee Club hosted their annual Homecoming Concert Saturday evening. They honored Cheryl Everett H’25, who was named an honorary alumna earlier in the day. She is in her 30th year as the Glee Club accompanist.
